Community Hospice & Palliative Care

Watercolor painting of a courtyard with a fountain and lush plantings.

Jacksonville, Florida

Community Hospice & Palliative Care approached our team to help reimagine the landscape design for their Jacksonville headquarters campus. The project focused on two outdoor courtyards and the primary entry, designed as spaces of comfort, reflection, and quiet connection.

These gardens serve as an extension of the care happening inside the building—places where patients, families, and staff can step outside, breathe, and find a moment of calm.

Our design approach emphasized environments that feel gentle and welcoming rather than formal or overly designed. Existing hardscape footprints were largely maintained, with subtle refinements to paving patterns, planting layouts, and circulation to enhance accessibility and visual interest while remaining mindful of permitting and operational requirements.

Soft curves, layered plantings, and shaded seating areas introduce a sense of movement and ease throughout the courtyards. Paving patterns and planting forms were carefully coordinated with the interior design language, creating a seamless transition from inside to out.

The result is a landscape that feels intentional, soothing, and quietly joyful—supporting reflection while remaining grounded, accessible, and easy to maintain.

We’re honored to contribute to a place dedicated to care, dignity, and compassion, and grateful for the opportunity to help shape outdoor spaces that support healing in its many forms.
